2013 Open Championship Essay ~ The Golden Eagle ~ Wright Thompson

The motto, “Nemo Me Impune Lacessit” is inscribed above the gates to the Edinburgh Castle. It means, “No one attacks me without impunity”. This video essay that aired during the 2013 Open Championship, shares the story of the Golden Eagle and how Scottish Soldier Ensign Ewart stole it from the French. The eagle is now featured on the cap badge of the The Royal Scots Dragoon Guards. The eagle represents the French Imperial Eagle that was captured by Ensign Ewart at Waterloo.
